Antwerp is the city of diamonds—but Rotterdam and Amsterdam, in particular, are also true gems. Bicycle bells mingle with music drifting from open windows—and guests from the A-ROSA cruise ship mingle in pubs and restaurants. And between the cities: the wind whistles, spreading an incomparable sense of freedom. On the other hand, there is a pleasant view of one of the old Dutch fishing villages with its picturesque stepped gables and colorful fishing boats.

BASIC - Discover the North Rhine on a modern e-motion boat (SENA)

All cruises are international, meaning that all materials—such as the menu, shipboard announcements, etc.—are in English. Similarly, shore excursions are available with English-speaking guides, and the onboard staff speaks English (and usually German as well).

Antwerp - When your cruise stops in Antwerp, you’ll immediately realize that this small Flemish port is no stranger to festive sparkle. In fact, sparkle was literally invented right here: this traditional trading city is a major diamond hub, where precious stones are polished until they shine like stars in the sky. Antwerp itself is also a gem—from the ship, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of its stately houses with ornate gables.

The NDSM Shipyard in Amsterdam – You’ve probably never heard of Amsterdam’s NDSM Wharf, but it’s a great place—especially for art lovers. It used to be a shipyard where vessels of all sizes were built and launched; today, it’s a hub for young artists and visionaries. Abandoned trams serve as living spaces for creatives, and you’ll even find an old crane that has been converted into a hotel. Locals have breathed new life into this once-desolate place through graffiti and street art, transforming it into a paradise for aspiring photographers. Admission is free, and you can get here by a free ferry from Amsterdam Central Station across the street.

Cologne – there are many sights to see, and they are all overshadowed by the cathedral, which, at 144.5 meters long and 157.38 meters tall, is the third-largest church building in the world. The view of Cologne is definitely worth the effort of climbing the 533 steps of the cathedral tower. St. Martin’s Basilica is another fantastic sight. In front of it, the colorful houses of Cologne’s fish market seem to glow. Thanks to its location far from the hustle and bustle of the city center, you can enjoy the atmosphere of the old town here.

Itinerary

Day Place Arrival Departure
1 Cologne - 17:00
Welcome to Cologne! The typical friendliness that you find at every turn makes visitors feel at home right away. It’s not unusual to quickly get chatting to strangers and even go for a couple of glasses of Kölsch with them. The main landmark – Cologne Cathedral – watches over the whole city. It is the third-tallest church building in the world, at 157.38 metres. It might be a bit of a trek up to the top of the tower, but it’s worth it. You’ll be rewarded with an unforgettable view of the city and the Rhine spread out before you.
2 Rotterdam 12:00 23:00
Rotterdam is the second-largest city in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam. Known as ‘Manhattan on the Maas’, it has a more urban and international atmosphere than anywhere else in the whole country. Be prepared to be amazed by the fantastic skyline, featuring the the Erasmusbrug bridge. Rotterdam is home to Europe’s largest port, as well as being a major transport hub. It's no surprise that this is a centre of contemporary architecture, featuring the famoust Kijk-Kubus, and the Witte Huis, which was the first skyscraper in Europe. Several impressive new skyscrapers have sprung up over the past 20 years.
3 Amsterdam (Lelystad*) 08:00 23:00
Few European cities are as diverse as Amsterdam, with its multicultural charm, relaxed atmosphere, historic canal district and the highest concentration of museums in the world. Don’t miss the Van Gogh Museum or the Rijksmuseum, which was restored to its former glory several years ago following a decade-long renovation project. Follow the locals’ example and explore by bike or take a trip along the canals and discover Amsterdam from the water.  *In individual cases, the local authorities in Amsterdam may not confirm the reserved berths. If no berth is allocated, our guests will be provided with a shuttle bus to Amsterdam.
4 Antwerp 17:00 -
The port city of Antwerp is an absolute must-see. Rich in art and culture, it is also known as the ‘Diamond City’ due to its important role in the diamond trade. Antwerp is particularly enjoyable for foodies, thanks to the many tasty Belgian specialities on offer there – including waffles, chocolates and chips.

6 Nijmegen 13:00 23:30
Did you know that Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands? You only need to cross the Waalburg arch bridge into the centre to understand why the 160,000 inhabitants are so proud of their city: the Waalkade wharf and the silhouette of the city-centre buildings combine to form a truly impressive sight. In this Hanseatic city, tradition and modernity go hand in hand.
7 Düsseldorf 13:00 23:00
Whether you’re strolling along one of Germany’s leading luxury shopping streets, the ‘Kö’, enjoying an Altbier fresh from the tap in one of the old town’s more than 300 pubs or discovering one of the city’s many green spaces, Düsseldorf has almost everything you could wish for. Most of the city’s population seems to frequent the Uerige – the archetypical Düsseldorf brewery – even though the name of the establishment comes from a local word for ‘grumpy’. The Köbesse – as waiting staff are known here – are rather unfriendly, in keeping with tradition.
