The bow strikes the strings and the violin begins to play. Young people, artists, and businesspeople sit under the golden ceiling of the Book Café in Budapest. This city of many influences is a place where culture and architecture meet to create a unique atmosphere. Visitors who stop in Belgrade can soak up the scent of peaches and wood from the imposing fortress above the river.

There will be dancing, singing, and sparkling wine served with cream cheese and pancakes. Vienna attracts visitors not only with the Sisi Museum, St. Stephen's Cathedral, and the Prater, but also with an endless array of cafés, museums, and dazzling shops. The Carpathian Mountains are also within easy reach. A unique experience is a cruise through the Iron Gates, where a 40-meter-high portrait of the Dacian king, who once ruled until 106 AD, is carved into the rock. The dark waters of the river flow perpendicularly between steep cliffs, and the breathtaking natural scenery will amaze everyone.

The Wachau Valley, on the other hand, has a more tranquil feel. Sun-drenched vineyards with grapes of the highest quality, idyllic villages and castle ruins create a picturesque scenery. This landscape, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a true paradise for connoisseurs.

BASIC - Intensive Danube - Cataracts (FLORA)

All cruises are international, meaning that all materials such as menus, radio announcements, etc. are in English. Similarly, excursions are available with English-speaking guides, and the staff on board speak English (and usually German as well).

Vienna– Once you settle down in Vienna for a few hours, you won't want to rush. Countless cafés await you, where traditional Viennese café culture still thrives today. The rich history of emperors, Sisi, and the Habsburgs with their ostentatious lifestyle contributes to the city's unique atmosphere. You can also listen to the sounds of classical music, which is an integral part of Vienna. And don't forget the culinary experiences – it's no wonder that the famous Viennese schnitzel and Sachertorte have gained worldwide fame.

Budapest – On one bank of the Danube lies hilly Buda with the Fisherman's Bastion and Castle Hill, on the other lies flat Pest with its monumental parliament building. These two very different parts, which differ so much from each other, were only united in 1873, creating Budapest as we know it today.

Bratislava - Right on the border with Austria and Hungary, on the southwestern border of Slovakia, lies Bratislava, the largest city in the country. Traces of the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy are omnipresent here. A peaceful life between Baroque and Rococo, palaces, palisades, art, and cafés.

Cataract - The Cataract rapids are probably the most impressive part of this cruise in terms of scenery. They lead through deep gorges along steep forests. Particularly exciting are the "Iron Gates," a Danube gorge that used to be dangerous.

Itinerary

Day Place Arrival Departure
1 Passau - 16:00
Passau, also known as the ‘city of three rivers’, is picturesquely situated at the point where the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers meet in Bavaria. You should definitely try the regional cuisine in Passau. The highlights include local specialities such as ‘Dreiflüsseforelle’ (three-river trout) and sweet treats such as ‘Dreiflüsseschnitte’ (three-river cake)
2 Wachau - -
The Ijsselmeer is an inland lake that was created by diking the Wadden Sea and the Zuiderzee bay. This is where you’ll find the lovely little town of Hoorn – make sure you explore it during your cruise along the northern Rhine.
2 Vienna 14:30 -
A true highlight of your Danube cruise: Vienna, the capital of Austria with that extra-special something. The locals sound as though they are singing when they speak, and it is customary for certain business owners to address their regular customers with their full title. That’s just the way things are done here. With its wealth of museums, galleries, palaces and castles, plus the state opera and many theatres, the city enjoys a lively cultural scene all year-round. The Viennese are proud of their city – and rightly so!

4 Budapest 14:00 -
Do you know how many bridges Budapest has? There are seven in total – and they span the river between the neighbourhoods Buda and Pest. The most well known is probably the Széchenyi Chain Bridge. Take a look at Budapest’s imposing structures for yourself as you cruise down the Danube. And if you go out onto the sun deck of your A-ROSA ship, you’ll also have an unobstructed view of Budapest’s famous parliament building. The perfect way to experience a stunning city.

Your river cruise will take you to one of the Danube’s most beautiful towns, which is also a carnival hotspot.
6 Vukovar 19:00 19:30
