Once upon a time, the Middle Rhine Valley was the scene of drama, battles and shipping disasters. All this took place in the shadow of 40 castles, rocky mountains and dense forests. Today, wise old castles and even the legendary Lorelei peacefully look down on the mighty river and generously provide clicking smartphones with a majestic natural panorama. Boats can now safely pass by rocky shale cliffs before sailing out to colourful clusters of timber-framed dwellings, massive sandstone cathedrals and chilled glasses of fine wines to toast the beauty of the Rhine.

BASIC - Mini cruise on the Rhine (Aqua)

All cruises are international, meaning that all materials such as the ship's newspaper, menus, radio announcements, etc. are in English. Likewise, excursions are available with English-speaking guides, and the on-board staff speaks English (usually German as well).

Discover Koblenz during a cruise on the Rhine. Its history dates back more than 2,000 years, making it one of Germany's oldest cities - and one of its most picturesque, with a wealth of sights and cultural attractions. Admire the palaces, stately homes, grand townhouses, narrow streets and romantic corners of Koblenz. And watch as the A-ROSA sails near the famous Cape Deutsches Eck.

Frankfurt - "Hier bin ich Mensch, hier darf ich's sein" ("Here I am a man, dare to be a man"). This quote by Frankfurt's most famous son - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - actually comes from his play Faust (and Bayard Taylor's English translation), but it's also a very apt way to describe Goethe's hometown. The combination of modern skyscrapers housing major financial companies and an old town with historic buildings and half-timbered houses is unique in Frankfurt. And if you want to take a break from the hustle and bustle, you can take a leisurely stroll along the beautiful banks of the Main.

Welcome to Cologne! The magnificent Cologne Cathedral, one of Germany's most famous landmarks, towers proudly over the city and attracts attention with its impressive architecture and ornate details. Cosy cafés, lively beer gardens and restaurants stretch along the waterfront, inviting you to sit and enjoy, while the charming streets of the old town with its traditional houses, boutiques and breweries carry the atmosphere of centuries past.

Itinerary

Day Place Arrival Departure
1 Cologne - 18:00
We will set off on our exciting Rhine cruise from here, heading for the northern or the southern Rhine. But you shouldn’t miss out on the opportunity to explore this cathedral city, with its wealth of monuments and attractions. The best way is to arrive the day before your cruise departs, so that you can relax – or simply extend your stay in Cologne after the cruise has ended.
2 Rüdesheim 11:00 23:59
The town describes its biggest attraction, the world-famous Drosselgasse, as ‘144 metres of joie de vivre’. This centre of Rhine Romanticism once inspired poets and musicians – it was here that Brahms composed his Symphony No. 3. Rüdesheim is the best-known spot in the Rheingau and has plenty of cultural attractions, including stately homes and fortifications. And no visit to the towns and countryside of this area of the Rhine would be complete without a Rüdesheim coffee, which was invented here.
3 Frankfurt 08:00 -
Welcome to Goethe’s birthplace! Here’s another historical fact while we’re at it: this is where the first German national assembly met in 1848. Today, the metropolis on the Main is home to the headquarters of major banks and is also one of Germany’s most important centres of business and commerce. Frankfurt is also known for its many futuristic-looking high-rises. You’ll get a closer view of them when your Rhine cruise takes you along the Main river.
4 Frankfurt - 02:00

4 Loreley Valley 08:00 -
The Ijsselmeer is an inland lake that was created by diking the Wadden Sea and the Zuiderzee bay. This is where you’ll find the lovely little town of Hoorn – make sure you explore it during your cruise along the northern Rhine.
4 Koblenz 15:00 21:30
