PREMIUM - Gourmet cruise with wine pairing on the Douro (ALVA)

All cruises are international, meaning that all materials such as menus, radio announcements, etc. are in English. Likewise, the trips are available with English-speaking guides and on board the staff speaks English (mostly German).

Porto - a fascinating city carved from granite: in Porto you will find new, exciting perspectives at every turn - whether you are by the flowing Douro River with its six different bridges, or in the lively urban districts of this northern Portuguese metropolis. In addition to the impressive buildings made of light granite, the symbols of Portugal's second largest city are the shimmering azulejo tiles decorating the walls of churches. Porto - whose old town is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site is pure poetry.

Pinhão - the town of Pinhão is located in the famous Port wine region, in an area where the Douro River and its surrounding landscape are at their most picturesque. It is surrounded by charming vineyards and quintas that produce this wine. One of the most interesting hiking trails leads from the Douro Bridge 7 km along the hilly Rua Praca de Oliviera to the Casal de Loivos viewpoint.

Salamanca - This provincial capital, located about 800 m above sea level on the banks of the Río Tormes, is in a league of its own. It has one of the most beautiful central squares (Plaza Mayor) and one of the oldest universities in Spain (13th century). This city was once loved by the Romans and Moors. In 1805, King Alfonso VI returned it to Spanish rule. The old town, with its diverse architectural monuments, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES INCLUDED IN THE PRICE:

  • Two wine menus prepared by Ambassador Oliver Edelmann and the A-ROSA Alva team, accompanied by Master Sommelier Hendrik Thoma and the renowned Niepoort and Soalheiro wineries in the Douro Valley.
  • Wine talk with Master Sommelier Hendrik Thoma
  • Culinary evening experience in a traditional quinta
  • Pastéis de Nata demonstration, traditional "Abertura a Fogo" opening and Port wine tasting
