Celebrate New Year’s Eve in the Netherlands! Fireworks light up the sky and reflect in the canals below you. The colorful, narrow merchant houses—which all seem to defy the invention of the level—are irresistible, just like the locals, who are ready to celebrate the arrival of the new year. Antwerp is the home of the diamond trade, followed by Dordrecht, which is another feast for the eyes. The city is situated right on the waterfront and offers impressive architectural landmarks and charming little harbors in the heart of the city. This is how the new year should begin—with plenty of new experiences!

PREMIUM - New Year's Eve on the Rhine 2026 (SENA)

All cruises are international, meaning that all materials—such as the menu, public address announcements, etc.—are in English. Similarly, excursions are available with English-speaking guides, and the onboard staff speaks English (and usually German as well).

Cologne - There are many attractions to see, and they are all overshadowed by the cathedral, which, at 144.5 meters long and 157.38 meters high, is the third-largest church building in the world. The view of Cologne is definitely worth the effort of climbing the 533 steps of the cathedral tower. St. Martin’s Basilica is another fantastic sight. In front of it, the colorful houses of Cologne’s fish market seem to glow. Thanks to its location far from the hustle and bustle of the city center, you can enjoy the atmosphere of the old town here.

Antwerp - When your cruise stops in Antwerp, you’ll immediately realize that this small Flemish port is no stranger to festive sparkle. In fact, sparkle was literally invented right here: this traditional trading city is a major diamond hub, where precious stones are polished until they shine like stars in the sky. Antwerp itself is also a gem—from the ship, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of its stately houses with ornate gables.

Amsterdam – the ringing of bicycle bells welcomes the New Year in Amsterdam. This popular mode of transport is the most flexible way to explore every corner of the city. As you ride along the historic canals, you can see countless boats and beautiful old merchant houses. You’ll also find plenty of small shops where you can pick up unique souvenirs.

Itinerary

Day Place Arrival Departure
1 Cologne - 18:00
Welcome to Cologne! The typical friendliness that you find at every turn makes visitors feel at home right away. It’s not unusual to quickly get chatting to strangers and even go for a couple of glasses of Kölsch with them. The main landmark – Cologne Cathedral – watches over the whole city. It is the third-tallest church building in the world, at 157.38 metres. It might be a bit of a trek up to the top of the tower, but it’s worth it. You’ll be rewarded with an unforgettable view of the city and the Rhine spread out before you.
2 Nijmegen 04:00 19:00
Did you know that Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands? You only need to cross the Waalburg arch bridge into the centre to understand why the 160,000 inhabitants are so proud of their city: the Waalkade wharf and the silhouette of the city-centre buildings combine to form a truly impressive sight. In this Hanseatic city, tradition and modernity go hand in hand.
3 Dordrecht 02:00 -
Discover the oldest city in Holland! Dordrecht, the city on the water, with its countless monuments and small city harbors. Here the three rivers Merwede, Noord and Oude Maas flow together, which give Dordrecht the flair of a city by the sea.

5 Amsterdam (Lelystad*) 03:00 -
Few European cities are as diverse as Amsterdam, with its multicultural charm, relaxed atmosphere, historic canal district and the highest concentration of museums in the world. Don’t miss the Van Gogh Museum or the Rijksmuseum, which was restored to its former glory several years ago following a decade-long renovation project. Follow the locals’ example and explore by bike or take a trip along the canals and discover Amsterdam from the water.  *In individual cases, the local authorities in Amsterdam may not confirm the reserved berths. If no berth is allocated, our guests will be provided with a shuttle bus to Amsterdam.

7 Düsseldorf 04:00 23:59
Whether you’re strolling along one of Germany’s leading luxury shopping streets, the ‘Kö’, enjoying an Altbier fresh from the tap in one of the old town’s more than 300 pubs or discovering one of the city’s many green spaces, Düsseldorf has almost everything you could wish for. Most of the city’s population seems to frequent the Uerige – the archetypical Düsseldorf brewery – even though the name of the establishment comes from a local word for ‘grumpy’. The Köbesse – as waiting staff are known here – are rather unfriendly, in keeping with tradition.
