info@ricniplavby.euBeurs voor Diamanthandel, the Belgian diamond bourse, has north-facing windows, because it’s important to keep sunlight to a minimum when evaluating the colour and purity of the stones. Antwerp is an old diamond-trading city, but it also has a more down-to-earth side. The city’s most famous chip shop is Frituur N°1 where Maria subjects the truly exquisite chips to a dual-fry process. Amsterdam’s treasures include its diverse range of museums, its glittering canals and, most importantly, its relaxed multicultural society, where every visitor immediately feels at home. Duisburg in Germany’s Ruhr region (or “Pott”) has an equally international quality. Duisburg is a true city on water: the Rhine, the Ruhr, the Rhine-Herne Canal and the world’s largest inland port are all waiting to be explored. When you dock here and take a look at the huge ships that sail the world’s seas, you’re bound to feel a little bit of wanderlust yourself.

There are many things to see in Cologne, and they are all overshadowed by the cathedral. At 144.5 metres long and 157.38 metres high, this is the third-highest church building in the world. The view over Cologne, the Rhine and the surrounding areas makes climbing the south tower’s 533 steps well worth the effort. The basilica of Great St Martin Church is another fantastic sight. The brightly coloured houses of Cologne’s fish market seem to glow in front of it. Located away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, you can soak up the atmosphere of the old town here. During carnival season, locals sing ‘Das Herz der Welt, das schlägt am Rhein’ (‘The heart of the world beats on the Rhine’) – and when you get to know the people of Cologne, you’ll no doubt agree with this sentiment.
Of course you can't avoid a stop in the world port city of Rotterdam when visiting the Netherlands. And it's worth it: the skyline is constantly in motion, you are discovering new futuristic buildings that are making their way towards the sky. It is easy to see that you have arrived in the Netherlands' model city of architecture. And whether you use the time to visit a museum, to stroll through town, to go shopping or to go out - that is entirely up to you.
Few European cities are as diverse as Amsterdam, with its multicultural charm, historic canal district and the highest concentration of museums in the world. Don’t miss the Rijksmuseum, which was restored to its former glory several years ago following a decade-long renovation project. Follow the locals’ example and explore by bike, or take a trip along the canals and discover Amsterdam from the water. Children of all ages will enjoy the NEMO Science Museum, where they can create bubbles big enough to stand in, make liquorice and learn why water is see-through.
The cultural city of Utrecht was once built around the city's landmark - Dom Tower. And since it stretches over 100 meters over the roofs, it always remains in view of the visitor. It is practically impossible to get lost here! So take a leisurely stroll along the idyllic canals and discover a wide variety of pubs, boutiques, shops, museums, monuments and gardens. The center is easy to explore on foot and there is a lot to discover, because Utrecht has a lot to offer its guests.
