It seems as if the North Sea has made way to make room for the Rhine. The observer has a clear, expansive view of the river as it branches into a wide delta and, after a 1,320-kilometer journey, finally disappears into the sea. More than 58 million people live in the Rhine basin, and 20 cities have developed along its banks. Amsterdam, a colorful and lively cultural hub. Ghent, a vibrant student city. Elegant Antwerp with buildings from every era, and of course the largest city—carefree Cologne—the Rhine flows through all these cities on its way to the IJsselmeer. And the only sounds heard on this body of water are tranquility, the sound of the wind, seagulls, and the sand beneath your feet as you walk along the river.

PREMIUM - Experiences on the Rhine and at Sea 2026 (SILVA)

All cruises are international, meaning that all materials—such as the menu, shipboard announcements, etc.—are in English. Similarly, shore excursions are available with English-speaking guides, and the crew on board speaks English (and usually German as well).

Antwerp - When your cruise stops in Antwerp, you’ll immediately realize that this small Flemish port is no stranger to festive sparkle. In fact, sparkle was literally invented right here: this traditional trading city is a major diamond hub, where precious stones are polished until they shine like stars in the sky. Antwerp itself is also a gem—from the ship, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of its stately houses with ornate gables.

Ghent - this old university town is bursting with energy. It is rich in cultural attractions and boasts a vibrant nightlife with impressive architectural landmarks as a backdrop. During the “Gentse Feesten”—a ten-day festival of street performances, music, and culture held every July in the city center—these magnificent buildings truly stand out, illuminated by light installations. It is a truly spectacular sight.

Cologne—there are many sights to see, and all are overshadowed by the cathedral, which, at 144.5 meters long and 157.38 meters high, is the third-largest church building in the world. The view of Cologne is definitely worth the effort of climbing the 533 steps of the cathedral tower. St. Martin’s Basilica is another fantastic sight. In front of it, the colorful houses of Cologne’s fish market seem to glow. Thanks to its location far from the hustle and bustle of the city center, you can enjoy the atmosphere of the old town here.
