The best of holidays in the South of France. Many of the scenes you'll encounter on this trip look like something out of a picture book. It's the same in the rustic rural region of Burgundy, where the hillsides are covered with some of the world's most famous vineyards, from Pinot Noir to Chablis. All this in an all-inclusive, 5-star backpacker setting.

PREMIUM - Intense Rhône (Luna)

All cruises are international, meaning that all materials such as the ship's newspaper, menus, radio announcements, etc. are in English. Likewise, excursions are available with English-speaking guides and the on-board staff speaks English (usually German as well).

The Rhône with its source in the Alps, the Saône with its source in the Vosges - together these two rivers formed the axis of civilisation along which economic and cultural development took place. And along one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the world. One more glass of irresistible gastronomy in the rustic wine region of Burgundy? Spectacular architecture and historical treasures await you on the banks of the rivers. Then to Lyon! Playing hide-and-seek in the winding streets would be an eight-year-old's dream; but adults can enjoy gourmet cuisine, ancient monuments and a trading tradition founded by the Romans.

Every beautiful cruise on the Rhône starts in Lyon. Lyon is a beautiful, modern city with an impressive old town and top-notch cuisine. It owes its fine dining reputation in part to award-winning French chef Paul Bocuse, who chose it as the home of his brewery, restaurant and cafés. The town is known for its simple but quality cuisine based on regional produce, earning it the nickname "la ville de gueule" (the town of taste).

You have probably heard of the famous bridge in the song 'Sur le pont d'Avignon'. This bridge actually exists, at least part of it: wars and floods have reduced the original 22 arches of the bridge to 4. In 1660, after another flood, the bridge was abandoned. Apart from the bridge, it is probably the palaces, wine and culture of Avignon that will delight you most. The Papal Palace is monumentally impressive, especially in the evening when it is illuminated by a light show.

Chalon-sur-Saône is known as the birthplace of photography - and no wonder. This place, makes you want to capture every moment to share with friends and family back home and reminisce. St Vincent's Cathedral - located on the square of the same name - is one of the most photographed landmarks. Its main part was built between the 12th and 15th centuries and is a favourite subject of professional and amateur photographers, as well as people on river cruises.
