Ancient ruins, wild horses, and elderly men playing pétanque in the town squares. Many of the scenes you’ll encounter on this journey look like something out of a picture book. The same is true of the rustic Burgundy countryside, where the hillsides are covered with some of the world’s most famous vineyards, from Pinot Noir to Chablis. You’ll never tire of exploring the labyrinth of streets in Lyon’s medieval, Baroque, and modern commercial districts. This journey will also satisfy your taste buds, as every corner of this city proves why Lyon is known as “la ville de guele,” or “the city of the mouth.” Then it’s time to lose yourself in picturesque Provence, where even your watch will start to slow down. Rejoice in the joy of life, the colors, and the beauty of nature.
All cruises are international, meaning that all materials—such as menus, shipboard announcements, etc.—are in English. Similarly, excursions are available with English-speaking guides, and the crew on board speaks English (and usually German as well).
Lyon - every beautiful cruise on the Rhône begins in Lyon, and there is a good reason for that: Lyon is a beautiful, modern city with an impressive Old Town and world-class cuisine. Lyon owes part of its culinary reputation to the acclaimed French chef Paul Bocuse, who made it the headquarters of his empire of brasseries, restaurants, and cafés. The city is known for its simple yet high-quality cuisine, based on regional products, which has earned it the nickname la ville de guele (the city of flavors).
Camargue - as you approach the Mediterranean Sea, the landscape along the river begins to transform—becoming wilder and more untamed. Here, the Rhône begins to spread out, carrying up to 20 million tons of rocks, sand, and clay each year, which it eventually deposits into the Mediterranean Sea. The Rhône Delta is famous for its black bulls, white horses, and flocks of pink flamingos. It is here that you can observe thousands of these birds among the wetlands and rice fields as they filter water through their beaks to find food. This unique region of France covers an area of 120,000 hectares and has been protected as a national park since 1970. Don’t miss the picturesque town of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer with its fortified 9th-century church.
Avignon - you’ve surely heard of the famous bridge from the song—this bridge actually exists, or at least part of it: wars and floods have reduced the bridge’s original 22 arches to 4. In 1660, after another flood, the bridge was abandoned. Besides the bridge, you’ll likely be most enchanted by Avignon’s palaces, wine, and culture. The Papal Palace is monumentally impressive, especially in the evening when it’s illuminated.

Parking in Lyon
For passenger car parking, you can use the Parkhaus Park Berthelot parking garage. Reservations are required, and you must fill out a special form—we’ll be happy to fill it out for you free of charge, or you can fill it out here: https://en.lrc.fr/parking Boarding begins at 3:00 PM. Please stop above the pier and unload your luggage. Please note that local authorities do not allow vehicles to park directly in front of the ship, so please stop above the dock, bring your luggage on board, and check in at the reception desk. The maximum dimensions for a car are 5.10 m x 1.90 m.
Please park your car on parking decks 7 or 8. We then kindly ask you to walk back to the ship, which will take approximately 6 to 8 minutes.
On the morning of disembarkation, an A-ROSA staff member will take you to the parking lot where you can retrieve your car.
